Israeli military finds two dead hostages in Khan Yunis - 1

The Israeli military announced last night that they had found the bodies of two dead hostages during an operation in the Khan Yunis area, in the southern Gaza Strip, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Both men lived in Kibbutz Nir Oz near the Gaza border. They were killed during the attacks on October 7, 2023, carried out by the Palestinian Islamist group “Hamas“ and other terrorist groups.

One of the victims is 59-year-old Yair Yaakov. His partner, Meirav Tal, and two of his sons, Or and Yagil, were kidnapped in Gaza during the attacks and released as part of the first hostage deal in November 2023.

The Israeli army has not yet released the name of the second victim at the request of the family.

After the discovery of the two bodies, according to Israeli figures, “Hamas“ still holds 53 hostages. At least 20 of them are still alive, 31 are believed to be dead, and it is unclear whether two of the hostages are still alive.

The attacks of October 7, in which more than 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage, sparked the Gaza war. According to Israeli media reports, about 47 people from Kibbutz Nir Oz were killed that day, including several people who were attending a music festival nearby.

Negotiations to release the remaining hostages and end the war are currently at a standstill amid a renewed Israeli offensive in the blockaded Palestinian territory.

Argentine President Javier Milley announced yesterday in a speech to the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, that his country's embassy in Israel will be moved to Jerusalem next year, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

„I am proud to announce to you that in 2026 "The transfer of our embassy to the city of West Jerusalem will be effective, as I promised," he told the Knesset, where he was invited to speak on the occasion of his second official visit to Jerusalem.

Elected president of Argentina in November 2023, Milley had reserved his first visit abroad for Israel, and upon his arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport announced its plan to move its country's embassy in Israel, currently located in Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv, to West Jerusalem.

Almost all countries with an official diplomatic presence in Israel have located their embassy in Tel Aviv.

Only the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, Papua New Guinea and Paraguay have embassies in Jerusalem, which is contrary to international consensus.

The 1947 UN partition plan for Palestine provides for a special international

status for Jerusalem because of the city's importance to Jews, Christians and Muslims, AFP reported.

One person was killed yesterday in an Israeli strike on a village in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported, quoted by Agence France-Presse and BTA.

In a statement from the ministry It is said that "an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Israeli enemy struck the village of Beit Lif in the Bint Jbeil region, killing one person and wounding three others".

The official Lebanese news agency NNA reported that the strike targeted a car in the yard of a house.

„Earlier today, the Israeli army struck and killed a terrorist from the „Ar Radwan" Forces of „Hezbollah“ in the Beit Lif area in southern Lebanon," the Israeli army said.

Israel continues its bombing in Lebanon despite a ceasefire that ended more than a year of conflict with “Hezbollah“, including two months of open exchange of fire, AFP reported.
