Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian threatened that the country would avenge the killing of every person killed in the Israeli attack, IRNA reported, quoted by Focus.
He also stressed that Iran will not remain silent in the face of this crime and will make the enemy regret this act.
“The Iranian people and the country's authorities will not remain silent in the face of this crime, and the legitimate and powerful response of the Islamic Republic will make the enemy regret its stupid actions“, the president emphasized in his address to the nation.
He also announced that today, more than ever, the Iranian nation needs unity, trust, empathy and solidarity and expressed confidence that with such a valuable spirit and divine support, a strong, wise and firm response will be given to the crimes of the Israeli regime.
The Iranian president added that the Israeli regime's attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities killed several children and women, innocent citizens, military commanders and nuclear scientists.
''This cruel act, which violates all international commitments, confirms the criminal nature of the illegal Zionist regime, which has built its existence on occupation, aggression and the murder of children'', he stressed.
''Last night's attacks proved to the world the legitimacy of Iran's long-standing claim that aggression and criminality are rooted in the very nature of the Zionist regime, he said, adding that However, the Iranian people and officials will not remain silent in the face of this atrocity, and the legitimate and powerful response of the Islamic Republic will make the enemy regret his foolish act. As the late Imam Khomeini said, “Whenever a flag falls from the mighty hand of a commander, another commander will pick it up and enter the battlefield.” The president also noted that as the Islamic Republic has always sought peace and stability in the world and the region, it will act decisively both in response to aggression and when defending the country’s sovereignty. The Israeli regime launched a series of military strikes in and near Tehran, as well as in other Iranian cities, on Friday night. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, commander-in-chief of the IRGC, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Major General Gholamali Rashid, and Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Forces Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh were among the senior command killed in the targeted strikes.
