Houthis claim responsibility: We sank Magic Seas in the Red Sea - 1

Yemeni Houthis have claimed responsibility for an attack on the Magic Seas ship that was sunk in the Red Sea yesterday, Sky News reports.

Military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sarri said the Houthis attacked the Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned ship with drones carrying bombs and missiles.

Their attack, about 60 miles southwest of the Houthi-held port of Hodeidah, left the ship in flames.

The 22 crew members abandoned the burning vessel by jumping into the water and were later rescued.

Sarri said that the ship was attacked because it allegedly belonged to a company that continues to make port calls in Israel.

Following the attack, Israel said it had struck the Houthi-held ports of Hodeidah, Ras Issa and Salif, as well as the Ras Qanatib power plant.

"These ports are being used by the terrorist Houthi regime to transfer weapons from the Iranian regime, which are used to carry out terrorist operations against the State of Israel and its allies," an Israeli military spokesman said.
