A phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan is not planned for now, but can be organized within a few hours if necessary. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a briefing, quoted by TASS, BTA reports.

„There is no conversation with President Erdogan on the schedule for now,“ Peskov noted.
„But we have the opportunity to coordinate talks at the highest level with our Turkish friends literally within a few hours,“ he added.

On July 25, President Erdogan announced his intention to speak by phone with both Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about a possible meeting between the two on the issue of Ukraine in Istanbul.

According to Peskov, no specific meeting in Turkey between Putin and Trump is currently planned. He stressed that such an initiative is related to the political will of the Turkish head of state.

The Kremlin spokesman expressed gratitude to the Turkish authorities for their role in creating conditions for dialogue between Moscow and Kiev and stressed that Turkey remains a preferred platform for peace negotiations by all participants in the process.

Last week, the third round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul, the Kremlin also recalled.
