The United States has reached trade deals with Cambodia and Thailand just before the August 1 deadline set by US President Donald Trump for the introduction of tariffs. This was announced by US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Lutnick revealed that Trump himself personally led the negotiations by phone on Saturday, being directly involved in the process throughout the day.
„This is incredible. And because he uses trade as a tool, he invited me on the phone, and I listened all day on Saturday while he called Cambodia and Thailand“, Lutnick said.
„And "What happened on Monday? They declared a truce. And now, today we have trade agreements with Cambodia and Thailand," he added, without revealing specific details of the agreements.
There has been no official statement from the White House or the Commerce Department on the content of the agreements.
