32-year-old Algerian woman accused of murdering her 3-year-old daughter in Athens

A 32-year-old Algerian woman has been accused of premeditated murder of her 3-year-old daughter, whose body was found on July 26 on Eden Beach in the Athens neighborhood of Palio Faliro, the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini“ reported, BTA reported.

The woman, who was seen in video footage pushing a stroller, admitted to being the child's mother.

The child died of suffocation, according to a forensic autopsy, which found bruises and injuries on the girl's body.

The woman, who resides illegally in Greece and has two other children, is accused of premeditated murder and family violence violence.

During the preliminary investigation, she gave conflicting accounts of her daughter's death. She initially claimed that the child had fallen into the bathtub and, after assuming that she had died, left her on the beach. The mother later told authorities that the child had fallen into the sea and drowned.

According to eyewitness accounts from neighbors, there had been previous cases of abuse, and police are also investigating an elderly man who is believed to have frequently visited the woman.

Authorities are still searching for the children's father.
