US President Donald Trump believes that the conflict in Ukraine can only be resolved at the negotiating table. This was stated by the US permanent representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker in an interview with NBC.
„President Trump made it very clear that the conflict in Ukraine will not end on the battlefield. Ultimately, it has to be concluded through negotiations, there has to be peace," he said.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff will be in Moscow this weekend, Whitaker confirmed.
"I hope he can make a breakthrough," he said in an interview with NBC.
Whitaker said the US wants "a deal on both sides" of the conflict and noted that Witkoff's visit to Russia "could bear some fruit."
Earlier, the US government announced that Witkoff would visit Israel and the Gaza Strip on August 1. Trump then said that after his trip to Israel, his special envoy would visit Russia. Witkoff has visited Russia several times, and has also been received by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
