Hamas said on Saturday it would not disarm until an independent Palestinian state was established, Reuters reported.
In a statement, the Palestinian military faction said that "its armed resistance... cannot be ended except through the full restoration of our national rights, most importantly the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."
In a separate statement earlier, the Palestinian group said it was committed to continuing talks for a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, but conditions in the enclave must first improve "significant".
Indirect talks between Hamas and Israel aimed at securing a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza war and an agreement to release hostages ended in a stalemate last week.
