I'll check - Trump was unaware of Russian uranium and fertilizer imports to the US - 1

US President Donald Trump said he was unaware of Russian uranium and fertilizer imports to the United States.

During a conversation with journalists at the White House, Trump was asked to comment on statements by the Indian Foreign Ministry that the United States continues to buy uranium and fertilizers from Russia, while threatening other countries with trade duties for importing and reselling Russian oil. “I don't know anything about that. I'll have to check," Trump said.

In October 2024, Anatoly Antonov, who was the Russian ambassador to Washington at the time, noted that fertilizers, uranium raw materials and palladium were supplied from Russia to the United States.

Trump wrote in Truth Social that he would significantly increase tariffs on India for the import and resale of Russian oil. He previously said that the United States was imposing a 25% trade tariff on India, adding that the Indian country "has always bought most of its military equipment from Russia" and is also "along with China, the largest buyer" of Russian energy resources.

India is the third largest consumer of oil in the world and is highly dependent on its imports. Indian refineries buy raw materials from more than 30 countries, including Russia. As Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri stated, cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi, especially in the energy sector, remains at a high level and is developing even against the backdrop of international instability. Russia's share in the republic's total imports exceeds 30%.
