The Daily Telegraph: British mercenary fired from construction site dies in Kharkiv fighting

British mercenary Alan Robert Williams was killed in the Kharkiv region less than a month after signing a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), The Daily Telegraph reported.

It is noted that Williams signed a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces on June 10. During the first combat mission on July 2, contact with him was lost. According to the newspaper, he died in Liptsy, Kharkiv region. His body has not been found, so he is officially declared missing, but fellow fighters have confirmed his death.

The publication emphasizes that 35-year-old Williams, who lived in the town of Moreton (Merseyside) in northwestern England, went to Ukraine on May 7 after being fired from the school where he worked on a school construction site. He had no previous combat experience. After being dismissed from work, he was hospitalized due to mental health problems. According to The Daily Telegraph, his 40-year-old wife and 12-year-old daughter asked him not to go to Ukraine.
