Israeli troops entered several villages in Al-Quneitra province in southern Syria and set up checkpoints there, the Syrian news agency SANA reported.

According to the media, “Israeli occupation forces entered several villages and towns in the central and southern parts of Al-Quneitra province, setting up checkpoints and searching civilians“.

A column of five military vehicles entered the town of Ar-Rafid, located on the border with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Another column advanced towards the village of Ruwayhina, located in the central part of the province, 70 km from Damascus. A few hours after the invasion, the Israeli forces withdrew.

On July 26, negotiations were held in Paris between the delegations of Syria and Israel, mediated by the United States. According to a diplomatic source in Damascus, the parties discussed the possibility of renewing the 1974 agreement on the presence of Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights. According to him, the Syrian side demanded “the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from the positions to which they had recently advanced“.
