Tagarev: Trump's team is taking an unprofessional approach to resolving the war in Ukraine - 1

US President Donald Trump's team is taking an unprofessional approach to resolving the war in Ukraine. This was stated by former Defense Minister Todor Tagarev to BTV, criticizing the president's special envoy Steve Witkoff for his lack of knowledge even of the geography of Ukraine, News.bg reports.

“How can peace be achieved when top professionals are standing against it?“, Tagarev asked.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin mocked Witkoff by awarding him the Order of Lenin for handing over to the CIA. A gesture that Tagarev described as “complete mockery“.

The former minister stressed that Russia is waging a large-scale war with ultimate goals, but has no chance of achieving them by military means. “Russia has no chance in a conventional conflict with Europe and the United States“, he said.

Tagarev admitted that Trump is seeking a peaceful solution, but warned that his approach could be at the expense of Ukraine. “Ukraine has proven that it can defend itself, but it needs material and financial support. Trump believes that the conflict should end quickly, even if this means concessions from the Ukrainian side“, he said.

According to Tagarev, Trump has announced a meeting with Putin without the participation of Ukraine and its European allies, which Russian propaganda will use to present Putin as a recognized world leader. He expressed the opinion that Europe has already realized the need to take more responsibility for its own security, since the fall of Ukraine would put the continent in a completely different position.

Tagarev stressed that at the moment Trump has not offered either concrete guarantees or territorial solutions for achieving peace.

He described the sale of 4,400 state properties as a “hidden privatization“ in a comment on another topic.

According to him, this is a “smoke“, deliberately created to divert attention from more important issues.
