Russia said its air defense systems destroyed a total of 59 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 12 over the Tula region and two over the Moscow region, Reuters reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry, BTA reports.
The ministry announced only the number of drones shot down, without specifying how many Ukrainian drones were used in the attacks. Reuters notes that it was unable to independently confirm the information provided by the Russian ministry.
Russian officials said three people had been killed in the overnight drone attacks.
The governor of Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, said on the Telegram messaging app that two people had been killed and two had been hospitalized in an attack before midnight in the region, which borders Moscow region to the north.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region in western Russia, a Ukrainian attack on an industrial zone killed one person and wounded two, governor Gleb Nikitin said on Telegram.
