Hungary has no interest in destabilizing Ukraine, although it could lead to the collapse of the Kiev leadership in a day, as the country relies on Hungarian energy resources. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview with Hír TV, BTA reports.
„Ukrainians know very well that it is not in our interest to destroy Ukraine, because a disintegrating state on our border is a threat to public security and the life of the Hungarian minority, a risk we do not want to take“, Orban emphasized.
„We could cause the disintegration of Ukraine in a day. But this is not in our interest. "Ukraine ultimately receives a significant portion of its electricity and gas from Hungary," he added.
The prime minister pointed out that even in the event of a serious accident, Ukraine could recover, but according to him, Kiev continues to behave disrespectfully towards Budapest.
Orban also stressed that the Hungarian side does not need to undermine Ukraine's security, because this would lead to an increase in the terrorist threat and a worsening of the situation of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia.
