Ukrainian drones cause fire at oil refinery in Volgograd - 1

Fallen debris from Ukrainian drones caused a fire at an oil refinery in Volgograd, the governor of the region, Andrey Bocharov, reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

“Firefighters quickly began extinguishing the flames. According to preliminary data, there were no injuries“, Bocharov wrote on Telegram. There has been no official comment from the owner of the refinery, Lukoil.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense forces had intercepted and destroyed 44 Ukrainian drones overnight, nine of which were over Volgograd.

According to the UNIAN agency, the attack also led to the temporary closure of the Volgograd airport. This is the second consecutive night that Ukrainian drones have attacked targets in the city.

The refinery has already been the target of drone attacks twice this year, on January 31 and February 3, after which it temporarily suspended operations, UNIAN recalls.
