Ukraine has raised $1.5 billion for military support under the new PURL initiative, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Thursday, quoted by the BBC. The program, launched jointly with international partners, aims to accelerate the supply of weapons and ammunition.

"Our new PURL defense support initiative, implemented jointly with partners, is already yielding tangible results. Today, we already have $1.5 billion. Thanks to NATO's Priority Requirements List initiative for Ukraine, NATO member states can cooperate to purchase US-made weapons for Ukraine. This is a mechanism that really strengthens our defense," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday.

According to Zelensky, the Netherlands donated $500 million, Denmark, Norway and Sweden contributed $500 million together, and Germany added another $500 million the day before.

"We continue discussions with other countries. Every contribution within the framework of PURL is a direct investment in our ability to protect the lives of our people and bring closer to a dignified peace. We thank all our allies for their support for Ukraine," the Ukrainian president added.

On July 14, US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced a new supply mechanism for Ukraine, under which European NATO countries will buy weapons from the US and transfer them to Ukraine.
