The Ukrainian General Staff reported that on August 14, Ukrainian forces struck an important logistics point in the Astrakhan region used by Russia to supply military goods from Iran, the BBC reported, BTA reports.
According to the report, the target was the vessel “Port Olya 4“, loaded with components for “Shahed“ unmanned aerial vehicles and ammunition supplied by Iran. The General Staff emphasizes that the port in the village of Olya is of critical importance for supplying the Russian armed forces.
The Russian Defense Minister and regional authorities have not yet confirmed the information about the strikes in the Astrakhan region. The Russian Defense Ministry's morning bulletin only mentioned a downed drone over neighboring Kalmykia.
Ukraine says the operations are aimed at limiting the logistical capabilities of the Russian army and weakening its position in the conflict.
