"The United States will continue to try to prepare a scenario for an end to Russia's war in Ukraine, but that may not be possible," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told “CBS“ today, Reuters reported.
“If peace is not possible here and the war continues, people will continue to die by the thousands... Unfortunately, we may get there, but we don't want to get there,“ Rubio said in an interview on the show “Face the Nation“ (Face the Nation).
Rubio also threatened Russia with new sanctions if an agreement is not reached on the Ukraine issue, writes Agence France-Presse.
“Ultimately, if we fail to reach an agreement here, there will be consequences“, the US Secretary of State warned in an interview with “NBC“, referring to the possible “approval of new sanctions“ against Russia.
During the interview, he was asked if a ceasefire was no longer on the negotiating table, to which Rubio replied that “it is not off the table“, DPA indicated.
“But everyone agreed that the best way to end this conflict is through a comprehensive peace agreement“, Rubio continued.
“There is no doubt about it. I mean, who would object to the fact that tomorrow we come to you and say: “We have a full peace agreement and it is done“. I think this is the best way to end the war“, concluded the US Secretary of State.
