The death toll from the explosion at the “Elastic“ factory in the Ryazan region has increased to 14, with 149 people injured, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported.
In the village of Lesnoy, specialists from the department continue to clear the rubble. Psychologists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry are also providing assistance to the victims and their relatives.
The incident in the Shilovsky district of the Ryazan region occurred on Friday, August 15. According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred at the gunpowder factory. The victims were immediately taken to hospital. The explosion occurred due to the detonation of ammunition.
The families of the victims of the explosion at the “Elastic” plant will be paid 1,567,500 rubles. This decision was made by the governor of the Ryazan region Pavel Malkov.
He added that the victims, in turn, will receive from 313,500 to 627,000 rubles, depending on the injuries.
Residents of the village of Lesnoy, whose property was damaged due to the emergency situation, can receive financial assistance - 15,675 rubles for emergency needs, said Pavel Malkov, governor of the Ryazan region.
The head of the region also said that everyone can help the victims. Collections are being held on the official website of the Ryazan Region Social Development Fund.
The governor has declared August 18 a day of mourning in the Ryazan Region. Flags will be lowered to half-mast throughout the region. Cultural institutions, television and radio companies and organizations will cancel entertainment events.
An eyewitness reported that the explosion broke out wooden windows in five-story buildings in the village near the “Elastic“ plant.
Metal doors were torn out, people were thrown five meters away. Many of them have severe shrapnel wounds.
“This is a great tragedy for everyone, this is the third time the plant has exploded there. All services are on site, but no one is coming closer yet, as the detonations continue“, added a woman who witnessed the incident. Her relatives also work at the enterprise.
