After talks with US President Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky announced his readiness for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I confirmed and all leaders supported me that we are ready for a bilateral meeting with Putin“, Zelensky said at a briefing at the White House, adding that he expects a trilateral meeting with Trump afterwards.
Zelensky said he wanted to raise the issue of territories at a possible bilateral meeting with Putin.
“We will leave the issue of territories for me and Putin“, he said at a briefing at the White House after talks with US President Donald Trump and European leaders.
Ukraine does not demand a ceasefire as a condition for further contacts with Russia, Zelensky added.
“If we make a ceasefire a condition for a bilateral meeting, the Russians will accuse us of violating the negotiations. We are ready to meet without any conditions“, he said.
The Ukrainian delegation has left the White House, where US President Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, the Ukrainian publication “Novosti na Zivo“ reported.
Zelensky's interview with Fox News, scheduled after the talks, has been canceled. According to the TV channel's host, Zelensky will not attend the broadcast. “After a marathon of meetings at the White House, they fly away“, he added.
Earlier, Trump met with Zelensky privately; their meeting lasted about an hour. Trump then met with European leaders and Zelensky. Trump also called Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, their conversation lasted about 40 minutes.
