The Chairman of the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin will visit China this week at the head of a parliamentary delegation, the "Vedomosti" newspaper reported today, quoted by BTA.
Volodin will visit Beijing and Changchun, the Russian publication writes. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be in China later this month and early next for Chinese celebrations marking the end of World War II.
In Asia, World War II ended in early September 1945, after the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August.
Chinese historians say that China lost 35 million people in the Second Sino-Japanese War, which lasted from 1937 to 1945, Reuters notes.
