The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte said that the discussions at the White House did not include sending troops to Ukraine.
He described the meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Zelensky and European leaders as "very successful".
In an interview with Fox News, Rutte confirmed that the topic of "troops on the ground" "was not discussed at all".
The talks focused on possible guarantees for the security of Ukraine by the US. Rutte said the leaders were considering a security framework modeled on NATO's Article 5, which would oblige allied countries to respond collectively in the event of future aggression against Ukraine.
The NATO chief also called Trump a "pragmatic peacemaker" and noted efforts to start a dialogue with Russia.
