The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, said on Monday that the EU will continue to take measures against Russia's military economy and the next package of sanctions against Moscow will be ready next month, Reuters reported, citing her statement on the "Ex" platform, BTA reports.
Kalas made the statement after a virtual meeting of European leaders on the war in Ukraine. The conversation was held a day after the Ukrainian president and several European leaders met with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
Kalas said that "the unity among EU leaders in today's virtual meeting was evident" and the topics of Ukraine's security and sanctions against Russia are high on the agenda for next week's talks led by EU foreign and defense ministers.
"Putin cannot be trusted to keep any promise or commitment. That is why security guarantees must be strong and reliable to deter Russia from regrouping and attacking again," she wrote.
