China's aggressive actions in the South China Sea and tensions around the Taiwan Strait pose a serious threat to international security that also affects Europe. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful during a visit to Indonesia, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
“China's growing military aggression in the South China Sea not only threatens security in Asia, but also undermines the rules-based international order as a whole“, Wadeful said in a speech delivered at an event dedicated to foreign policy. He stressed that key trade routes are also at risk as a result of these actions.
Regarding the Taiwan Strait, the German minister warned: “Any escalation would have serious consequences for global security and prosperity and would directly affect both German and European interests.“
