Warsaw: Drone that crashed in Poland most likely came from Belarus - 1

The drone that crashed in a field in eastern Poland most likely came from the direction of Belarus. This was stated by the regional prosecutor of Lublin Grzegorz Trusiewicz, quoted by "Reuters".

The incident was described as a provocation by the defense minister.

The military drone fell into a cornfield on Tuesday night, burning crops, breaking windows of nearby homes and exacerbating tensions at a crucial moment in efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

"There is a very high probability that the object came from Belarus," Trusiewicz said.

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that initial findings of the investigation and some experts suggested that a Russian version of the "Shahed" drone, developed by Iran, was involved in the latest incident.

Trusiewicz said he was unable to confirm the model of the drone.

The close Russian ally Belarus has supported Moscow's war in Ukraine.

Earlier today, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported that aircraft had been scrambled in response to Russian strikes on western Ukraine. However, no violation of Polish airspace was observed.
