The UK has imposed sanctions on an individual and four entities under its regime against Iran, saying they are part of a network supporting Tehran's overseas operations, including in Ukraine and Israel, Reuters reported, BTA reports.
The measures include freezing the assets of Iranian oil tycoon Hossein Shamkhani and four companies operating in the shipping, petrochemical and financial sectors, according to an online government announcement.
British authorities said the network had facilitated hostile activity by the Iranian government, including attempts to destabilize the United Kingdom and other countries.
Some of the sanctioned companies operated from in the name or at the direction of Shamkhani, who was already sanctioned by the United States last month.
The sanctions block all assets of the designated individuals and entities in the United Kingdom and prohibit British citizens and companies from trading with them.
