A top-level meeting between the leaderships of Serbia and Russia will be held as soon as possible, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a conversation with Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Bochan-Kharchenko, BTA reported.
“We discussed all topics of interest to both countries, especially in connection with the top-level meeting between the leaderships of our countries, which should take place as soon as possible“, Vucic wrote on his Instagram profile.
He stressed that Serbia remains committed to the development of friendly relations with Russia. "We are committed to preserving peace and political stability in the Western Balkans region, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Serbian head of state said.
Serbia has pursued a policy of close relations with Russia. It has refused to join Western sanctions imposed over the invasion of Ukraine, although it has condemned Moscow's aggression. President Aleksandar Vučić has said that imposing sanctions does not serve Serbia's national interests.
