The right bank of Kherson region, including Kherson, should remain part of Russia after a peaceful settlement, regional governor Vladimir Saldo told TASS.
„Kinburn Spit and the right bank of the Dnieper River in Kherson region, together with the regional center Kherson, are the territory of the Russian Federation. The rumors that Kherson may not be Russian are just rumors“, he said.
Saldo specified that the Kinburn Spit, which was previously part of the Nikolaev region, as well as the entire territory of the Kherson region, became part of Russia after a referendum in the fall of 2022.
„During the negotiation process, of course, there will be a lot of rumors, a lot of different interpretations. Perhaps the words will be formulated differently in Ukraine. But if we look the truth in the eye, then this is the territory of the Russian Federation, unconditionally, which is constitutionally recognized“, emphasized the head of the Kherson region.
Saldo did not rule out Russia's participation in the restoration of the Ukrainian economy after the signing of the peace treaty.
The head of the Kherson region expressed confidence that after the end of the conflict, Russia and Ukraine will establish good-neighborly relations.
He noted that at the moment the Ukrainian military is subjecting civilians to checks and torture "in the part of the Kherson region occupied by the Kiev regime".
„The militants of the Kiev regime are increasing the pressure on civilians from the right-bank Kherson region. Every day I receive more and more stories about how our people in the territories occupied by Ukraine are humiliated because they do not know the Ukrainian language, are subjected to checks and violence. Those they call “traitors“ are actually deprived of the right to a normal life,“ he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Saldo added that families on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region are being forced to leave their homes.
“The militants are settling in the houses and robbing the farms to the last. This is real terror. The Kiev regime is showing its true face - cruel, deceitful and inhuman,“ the head of the Kherson region emphasized.
