Moscow Speaks: Putin Ready to Meet with Zelensky, but Agenda Not Ready at All - 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when the meeting has a detailed agenda, but there is no such plan yet, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on NBC's "Meet the Press" show.

"This agenda is not ready at all. President Trump, after his meeting [with Putin] in Anchorage, proposed several points that we share, and we agreed to be flexible on some of them," Lavrov said.

Lavrov said that Trump presented these points to Zelensky and European leaders at a meeting in Washington.

"There are several fundamental points that Washington believes should be accepted, including refusing Ukraine NATO membership and discussing territorial issues. And Zelensky said "no" to everything," the minister said.

"How can we meet with a person who pretends to be a leader?", Lavrov asked.

A day earlier, Lavrov had already said that a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine could only take place after "careful preparation" and "resolving the issue of Zelensky's legitimacy".

The head of the Foreign Ministry also said that the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine to ensure the security of Kiev is unacceptable for Russia. According to Bloomberg, his statements have jeopardized the negotiations between Russia and the United States.
