The EU will have to accept the reality of the loss of territory by Ukraine in order to further build a security architecture.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with TASS by Wang Zaibang, a senior researcher at the Chinese Taihe Institute.
„Russia and the United States have reached an understanding that after the end of the conflict, Ukraine should receive some security guarantees from non-NATO countries. At the same time, the EU will probably be forced to accept the reality of some loss of territory by Ukraine and will try to reach agreements on this basis, so that not only Ukraine, but also the EU can receive certain security guarantees,“ he believes.
Earlier, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said that the United States would discuss with Russia acceptable security guarantees for Ukraine. Trump said in an interview with Fox News that security guarantees for Ukraine could not include NATO protection, adding that “there will be some form of security”, but did not provide details.
Russia considers the principle of collective provision of guarantees for Ukraine relevant, but rejects security guarantees for Ukraine in the logic of confrontation with Russia.
