Nigerian military kills at least 35 jihadists near Cameroon border - 1

The Nigerian Air Force said it had killed more than 35 jihadists in attacks on Saturday against Islamist militants near the Cameroon border, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

Based on multiple intelligence inputs from various sources, precision strikes were carried out, neutralizing more than 35 militants at four identified points.

The operation demonstrated a commitment to providing air support to ground forces, "while cutting off logistics and movement corridors for terrorists along the northeastern border areas," the air force said in a statement.

Nigeria has been battling a long-running insurgency in the northeast of the country, led mainly by the Islamist armed group group "Boko Haram" and its affiliate "Islamic State – West Africa Province" (ISWAP).

A wave of attacks in northeastern Nigeria in recent times underscores the return of jihadist groups to that part of the country.
