The Pentagon plans to send troops to Chicago to fight crime, the Washington Post reported, citing officials.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that after the US capital, he would restore order in other cities across the country, such as New York and Los Angeles.

Last week, the president announced several measures to combat crime in Washington. According to them, local police are transferred under the direct control of the federal government. National Guard troops have been sent to the capital, and the armed forces can also be sent there if necessary.
According to Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, the National Guard will arrive in Washington in the coming weeks and will remain there for as long as the head of state deems necessary.
The National Guard will be provided with weapons to restore order.
