140 people were arrested at the carnival in the London neighborhood of "Notting Hill", but the Metropolitan Police noted that Sunday was generally peaceful, BNR reported.

Today is the last day of the three-day carnival, with about 1 million people expected to take part in it.

Police have used live facial recognition for the first time to catch potential serious offenders. However, Sunday's festivities passed relatively peacefully, with no reports of serious violence.

Police made 140 arrests, 13 of which were made with the help of facial recognition of offenders. 15 people were arrested for assaulting police officers, one police officer was hospitalized for an arm injury. 21 suspects were detained for possession of weapons, and 52 arrests were made for drug-related crimes.

On Friday, the day before the carnival began, the Metropolitan Police made 100 pre-emptive arrests, confiscating 11 firearms and more than forty knives.

Otherwise, the mood on the streets of "Notting Hill" was traditionally high. The mayor of the area in which the neighborhood falls told the media: "This is one of the greatest street parties in the world, celebrating Caribbean culture - from dancing, music, costumes, but also everything that the Caribbean community has done in this area and the country."

Previous times have been marked by more violence, including deaths, and it is hoped that this year will be an exception.
