US President Donald Trump did not rule out an "economic war" with Russia in case of lack of progress in the ceasefire in Ukraine, adding that he would not want to do so.
"This will not be a world war, but an economic war", Trump told journalists in response to a question about what he could do with Moscow if attempts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine fail.
"Economic war will have bad consequences for Russia. And I don't want that," the American president added.
According to him, in the event of failure of the Ukrainian settlement, the US may impose sanctions against Russia. "What I have in mind is very serious", Trump said.
At the same time, the American leader noted that he could not say that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "is absolutely innocent" in this conflict. "It all depends on both sides," Trump summed up.
