US President Donald Trump said that the United States is no longer spending any money on aid to Ukraine and is not directly providing it with military equipment.
“We spent hundreds of billions of dollars on this war. Now we are selling equipment to NATO. I forced them to increase defense spending from two to five percent of GDP“, the head of state said in an interview with The Daily Caller.
“We are selling equipment to NATO. We are not selling it to Ukraine“, he added. "We're not spending more money on war," the US president stressed.
Trump is confident that the trilateral summit involving Russia, the US and Ukraine will take place, but he does not know whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Vladimir Zelensky.
"There will be a trilateral summit. As for a bilateral one, I don't know, but a trilateral one will take place," Trump noted.
Mainly European countries will provide security guarantees to Ukraine, but the United States is ready to help them, he said.
Trump was asked if he would allow air support for Ukraine as a security guarantee.
"Maybe we'll do something, I would like a solution to the problem. "If I can end the deaths of soldiers on the battlefield by periodically flying a plane into the air, the Europeans will be primarily responsible for that, but we will help them," he said, noting that he has no plans to send American troops to Ukraine.
