North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a new missile production line and the process of missile production automation on Monday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported today, quoted by BTA.
His visits preceded a planned trip to Beijing, where he will attend a military parade together with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters notes.
North Korea is subject to severe international sanctions imposed over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, which were developed in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Experts and international officials say the sanctions have lost much of their power amid growing economic, military and political support from Russia and China.
According to the KCNA, Kim said that the modernized production process would help increase the combat readiness of key missile components.
North Korea has sent soldiers, artillery ammunition and missiles to Russia to support Moscow in its war against Ukraine.
