The United Kingdom is assessing the readiness of its troops in the event of a possible deployment in Ukraine as part of security guarantees after the end of the conflict, said the UK Defense Minister John Healy.
“In terms of the armed forces, I am assessing the level of readiness and accelerating the allocation of the necessary funding to prepare for a possible deployment“, said the head of the Defense Ministry, speaking in the House of Commons (lower house) of the British Parliament.
Healy stressed that the United Kingdom, together with France, continues to develop the concept of a military mission of the “coalition of the willing“ in Ukraine. “200 military planners from more than 30 countries have helped draft ceasefire plans that include air and sea protection and training for Ukrainian troops,“ he said.
Healey noted that this week he and French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu will host a meeting of defense ministers from the “coalition of the willing” to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. He also announced a meeting in London next week with the defense ministers of Italy, Poland, Ukraine, France and Germany.
