An extraordinary meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council in the format of the Political Committee was held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. It was convened at the request of Ukraine following the recent massive Russian missile strikes.

This was reported by "Ukrinform", citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA).

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Boev and Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Oleksiy Sergeev, who joined the session online, provided the allies with detailed information on the current security situation, an assessment of Russia's latest tactics and its likely future plans.

Sergeev informed the participants about the consequences of the recent Russian attacks on Ukraine, including the number of civilians killed and injured and the scale of the destroyed infrastructure.

Boev stressed that Russia is significantly increasing the production of weapons, in particular cruise missiles, drones and artillery. He also noted that North Korea and Iran continue to provide significant assistance to Russia.

"The Ukrainian side called on NATO member states to provide the necessary assistance to strengthen Ukraine's air defense, in particular the "Patriot" system and missiles for it. The need for long-range missiles was also emphasized," the MFA said.

The allies were further urged to increase investment in Ukraine's defense industry, especially in the production of drones. With sufficient funding, Ukraine can produce a significant number of additional capabilities, the ministry stressed.

Representatives of NATO member states strongly condemned Russia's massive strikes on Ukrainian cities, civilian objects and civilians, emphasizing that such actions demonstrate Moscow's lack of desire for peace. They stressed the need to maintain pressure on Russia and pledged to continue supporting Ukraine and working to ensure sustainable and timely supplies of essential weapons to Ukraine.

As the winter and heating seasons approach, Allies stressed the importance of protecting Ukraine's energy infrastructure and pledged to provide the necessary support.
