US President Donald Trump may accuse European countries of obstructing his peace initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, the newspaper „The Times“ reported, citing its sources.
According to the newspaper, Trump „accuses the Europeans“ of pushing Kiev to try to achieve more favorable peace terms for it in Ukraine, and US representatives are unlikely to participate in the meeting of the „coalition of the willing“ in Paris on September 4.
The newspaper also believes that the head of the White House may have „exhausted his ideas for advancing the peace process“, including due to the lack of a meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he considered “a next step“.
As previously reported by the Axios portal, citing its sources, Washington administration officials suspect that a number of European leaders are secretly obstructing efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to it, the United States “is calling on Europe to impose sanctions on Russia, including a complete halt to oil and gas purchases and secondary tariffs on India and China“.
