Russia announced today that it had captured "about half" of the Ukrainian city of Kupyansk in the northeastern Kharkiv region, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published a video recording of a soldier holding a Russian flag on a road. Reuters makes the reservation that it could not verify the information through an independent source.
There has been no comment from the Ukrainian side so far. However, in its morning briefing today, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said, quoted by Ukrinform, that all Russian attacks in the Kupyansk direction had been repelled.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced on June 20 that the country's armed forces were already on the outskirts of Kupyansk.
Russia had already captured this city at the beginning of the war, which broke out in February 2022, before Ukraine recaptured it in September of that year.
