A Russian drone attack in the Starosaltivskyi district of northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region late last night killed three people and injured three others, regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said on the "Telegram" app, quoted by Ukrinform.

"At around 9:30 p.m., the enemy attacked the village of Khotimlya in the Starosaltivskyi district with a drone. As a result of the drone strike, two 40-year-old men died. In addition, two men aged 32 and 47 were injured. The injured have been taken to hospital and are receiving the necessary medical care. According to preliminary information, road service workers were hit. A 25-year-old civilian woman was also killed," Sinegubov wrote.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that throughout the day, Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian industrial city of Nikopol, as well as the Sinelnikov district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, with drones and artillery, damaging houses and cars.

US President Donald Trump told reporters yesterday that he would speak with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the near future, Reuters reported.

Trump also said that he had resolved many wars, but the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was the most difficult to date.

In an interview with "CBS News" Trump also said yesterday that he was not happy at all about the carnage between Russia and Ukraine, but added that he would continue to fight for a peace agreement.

The American president is unhappy that he cannot stop the fighting in Ukraine, which began with the Russian invasion in February 2022. Trump initially predicted that he would be able to end the war immediately after taking office in January.
