The leaders of the European armies have developed a detailed plan for the deployment of a contingent of over 10,000 soldiers to Ukraine, which was prepared with the participation of American generals.
This was reported on September 4 by The Wall Street Journal, citing a European diplomat.
According to the plan, the ground forces will be divided into two groups. One will be engaged in training and providing assistance to the Ukrainian military, while the second, a separate “deterrent force“, will be called upon to “prevent a possible future Russian invasion“.
The diplomat added that air patrols over the skies of Ukraine will be carried out by air forces based outside the country. It is noted that American generals, including the head of NATO's Joint Command in Europe, were involved in developing the plans.
On August 18, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia does not accept any scenarios that involve the deployment of NATO contingents in Ukraine and that could lead to an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict.
