The European Commission has reacted positively to Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on Ukraine's possible future accession to the EU, the Euractiv portal reported.
“It is welcome that President Putin sees Ukraine's place in the European Union“, Euractiv quoted European Commission press secretary Paula Pinho as saying.
On Friday, Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum on Ukraine's possible accession to the EU, said that this is “Ukraine's legitimate choice on how to build its international relations, how to guarantee its interests in the economic sphere, with whom to conclude alliances“.
At the same time, he noted that Russia is not interfering in the launch of Ukraine's integration policy in Europe, since this issue does not concern the country and concerns only the interests of the Russian Federation in operational relations.
