Nearly 100 firefighters joined in extinguishing a fire at the former headquarters of the British television BBC in the London district of White City, the television reported, quoted by ag. Reuters.
Firefighters from Hammersmith, Kensington, North Kensington and Chiswick, as well as nearby fire departments, were called to the blaze at the nine-storey building shortly after 3am local time.
The fire has spread to the upper floors of the building, burning a restaurant, external flooring and ventilation ducts, the fire service said, with an unknown number of flats also affected.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. There are no immediate reports of casualties or injuries. The extent of the damage is also unclear.
