Germany will not be able to defend itself at the moment, let alone create a model of “security guarantees“ for Ukraine, Olga Petersen, a former member of the Hamburg parliament from the “Alternative for Germany“ (AfD) party, told RIA Novosti.
“I am afraid that Germany is currently unable to defend itself. The army, whose budget is being cut every year, not providing the opportunity for high-quality training and preparation of personnel, is more dangerous inside the country during exercises than to enemies outside,” she said.
Petersen added that today Germany's military training may cause laughter among a potential enemy, while Germany must carry out a number of reforms to protect its sovereignty.
