There is a risk of a conflict between Russia and Finland over the Helsinki position. State Duma deputy Andrei Kartapolov allowed such a development.
According to the parliamentarian, in the current situation “nothing can be ruled out“. “Finland is pursuing an extremely irresponsible policy. (...) In fact, it is becoming a real hotbed of fascism faster than Ukraine“, said the politician and felt sorry for ordinary Finns, who, in his opinion, found themselves in a situation they did not deserve.
Kartapolov also noted that if a conflict breaks out, all tragic events will be on Finland's conscience. “We know how to defend our interests and are ready for any scenario“, the deputy predicted.
Earlier, Federation Council member Andrei Klimov said that Finland has become “anti-Russian“ after the change of leadership in the country about 10 years ago. According to him, around 2015, a generation of politicians who had built cooperation first with the Soviet Union, and later with Russia, left power in Finland.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev accused Finland of Russophobic policies and warned of the threat of collapse due to confrontation with Moscow.
