Donald Trump ally and director of the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) organization Charlie Kirk was shot during an event in Utah, world agencies reported, bTV reported.
Videos shared on social media show Kirk being hit while speaking under a tent in the courtyard of Utah Valley University, where he is participating in The American Comeback Tour.
In other footage, students run in panic at the sound of gunshots.
Utah Senator Mike Lee said on the X platform that he was “following the situation closely“ and called for prayers for Kirk and the gathered students.
A university police spokesman confirmed to the Guardian that there had been a shooting on campus.
