Russian troops have taken fire control over the Kherson-Nikolaev highway, Kherson region governor Volodymyr Saldo told RIA Novosti.
„We keep the sky over the Nikolaev highway and the road to Belozerka under control. Drones are constantly operating. The Ukrainian armed forces no longer move in these directions - it is too dangerous for them. Now, as a backup route, they use the bypass road to Nikolaev through Snihurivka“, he said.
Kherson region is located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper and is washed by the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. Moscow declared the region part of Russia after the referendum in September 2022. The Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to shell its territory. Currently, 75 percent of the region is under Moscow's control, while part of the right bank of the Dnieper, including Kherson itself, is held by Ukrainian troops.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, over the past 24 hours, the Dnieper Group of Forces, whose area of responsibility includes the Kherson region, "shattered" Ukrainian armed forces in Tokarevka and Olkhivka in the same region, as well as in Stepnogorsk and Maryevka in the Zaporizhia region.
Russian air defenses have destroyed several Ukrainian drones over the Voronezh region. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties or damage on the ground, regional governor Alexander Gusev reported on his Telegram channel.
The governor added that the region remains under a state of threat of drone attacks.
Several explosions have been reported in Sumy, Ukrainian television channel “Obshchestvennoe“ reports.
