NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Lieutenant General Alexis Grinkiewicz, said at a press conference in Vilnius that Germany will permanently deploy a brigade in Lithuania, Reuters reported, BTA reports.
He described this as a significant step to strengthen deterrence and defense on NATO's eastern flank.
Grinkiewicz added that NATO's unified air command would provide the Lithuanian control and reporting center with more information and warnings about launches of air targets against Ukraine that could cross the Lithuanian border.
