The Japanese government has decided to impose additional sanctions against Russia and a number of foreign companies as part of anti-Russian measures, according to documents published by the country's Council of Ministers.

The assets of 14 people, 47 organizations and the Artek children's camp are subject to freezing if they are found in Japan. The blacklist includes the Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov Foundation and its president Aimani Kadyrova. The Ural automobile plant, the Tula arms factory, the Basalt scientific and production associations and “Iskra“, as well as a number of other companies and enterprises.

Export restrictions are being introduced for two more Russian companies.

In addition, the Japanese government decided to impose sanctions in the form of an asset freeze against three companies from the Seychelles and the Marshall Islands. The assets of nine more companies from the UAE, Turkey and China are also subject to freezing.

The Japanese government decided to reduce the so-called price ceiling for Russian oil from $60 to $47.6 per barrel.

Japan previously joined other G7 countries in implementing the price ceiling mechanism for Russian oil at $60 per barrel. However, it made an exception for supplies from the Sakhalin-2 project, whose main product is liquefied natural gas (LNG), and oil supplies are tied to gas contracts.

Japan receives about 9% of its total liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports from Sakhalin-2, while Russian gas accounts for about 3% of all electricity generation.
